One of the focus areas identified by NITCAA Trivandrum was to bring the NITCAA as a brand among the socio-cultural agencies advocating change and helping for the creation of a sustainable living model. This – we believe, can be achieved by focusing on the needs of the people in our own friendly neighborhood as well the society at large where we live in.
Thus, the Governing Council of NITCAA Trivandrum devised a series of Sustainable Living Projects and the first of this series was launched on 16-11-2019.
A one-day Training Program in Efficient use of Energy & Electrical Safety in Residences was conducted at Trivandrum in collaboration with Energy Management Centre, Govt. of Kerala. The session was meant for Alumni members, General public, College students, Builders etc. The classes were taken by experts in the field of electrical energy, safety, petroleum products and energy conservation. The program was well attended by public, college students, faculty members, alumni and there was very good coverage of the program in the leading newspapers.
The second of the series of projects was named PROJECT SCOPE.
The frameworks of the project, which was devised as a continuing project, primarily focusing on school children and developing their interest towards science and technology through simple teaching models. The project was developed with the mentoring and support of Prof. V.K. Damodaran and Dr. C.P. Aravindakshan. The project will take off in the next academic year after school vacations.
The third in the series is the introduction of new technologies and enhancing employability of the budding new generation. Out of this we have identified a few avenues such as Media & Entertainment technologies, Space technology etc. to name a few. Special focus was given to Media & Entertainment Technology because of the tremendous Job potential in this growing sector. The course was developed with the active involvement and support of Prof. Dr. S. Sasikumaran – who was our faculty at NIT- and his team MAAC Trivandrum. There is wide acceptance and demand for this program, and we have conducted this course in several Colleges and other Public Institutions in and around Trivandrum.
Many such programs are in the pipeline and through implementing such programs we can share our members’ experience and expertise with the general public and student community.
Yes, off course, keeping in mind the basic motive of an alumni association, we are better placed to similar organizations in creating a real bond between members and their family. Periodical meetings including Governing Council Meetings are invariably family meetings. To foster more friendship and family bonding we have conducted several tour programs. Some of them to Paravoor, Kashmir, Cambodia & Vietnam. Similar tour programs are also planned in the coming days.
Through working on such multiple portfolios , we aspire to achieve our dream of bringing NITCAA Trivandrum in the forefront of similarly placed socio-cultural agencies .
